Our Story

Fast Thinking. Hard Working. Quality Service and Products.
In 1976, local contractor and entrepreneur Emil Koledin bought the assets of Shenango Metalcraft, looking to relocate his construction company, now Wesex Corporation, and electrical specialty business. The small electrical specialty business was merged into what is currently Specialty Metal Products Company, Inc. Koledin’s foresight brought new equipment and techniques to the old plant, and another expansion in the late 90's. He oversaw the business until his death in 2010. Forty years later, the second generation of leadership is driving growth and change, while maintaining a foundation of exceptional customer service. Specialty Metal Products is reinvesting in technology, equipment, and modern processing techniques to ensure the company's dedication to its customers remains the backbone of its business model. By constantly striving to create new solutions and adapt to our customers' needs, the company's top priority will remain delivering the highest level of customer service.

At its core, Specialty Metal Products is an industrial graphic printer of durable identification products, centered around chemical etching of metal nameplates for a diverse OEM market. A market critical for identification solutions that will both endure the life of their products and strengthen their brand. For forty years we have met our customers’ expectations for quality and service. Our onsite production facility specializes in printed and etched metal nameplates. We are pleased to maintain strong relationships with our long term customers, while a large portion of our work comes from repeat business and satisfied customer referrals.

Our etched nameplates are suited for hazardous, corrosive, and outdoor environments. Our products are utilized on railcars and tank cars, mining machinery and equipment, pumps and valve assemblies, motors and generators, transformers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels. From equipment tags to safety instructions, control panels to architectural signage, our capabilities provide infinite market reach for a variety of identification products. We can etch, screen, print, or mark any form of graphics on a wide range of substrates, and work closely with our customers to engineer tailored solutions.
